This program is a full-time, one-year clinical and didactic course of study in prosthodontics and esthetics offered to dentists from countries other than the United States who seek to improve their clinical skills and knowledge in this discipline. This program is designed for both didactic and clinical participation in the area of removable prosthodontics, fi xed prosthodontics, occlusion and implant prosthodontics.


Upon successful completion of the Advanced Program in Prosthodontics, program participants will have a thorough knowledge of both removable and fi xed prosthodontics, as well as implant and occlusion procedures.


Participants treat a variety of patients under the close guidance of a diverse and experienced faculty comprised of top practitioners in the fi eld of prosthodontics.

Course Components

This program consists of patient care/clinical experiences and a variety of lectures, discussion groups and seminars covering topics such as fi xed prosthodontics, removable prosthodontics, occlusion, operative dentistry and implant dentistry. A supervised review of dental literature is designed to elevate the students’ knowledge in prosthodontics, stimulate interest in research projects and encourage the discussion of new techniques. A mandatory technique course is offered weekly that allows students the opportunity to practice different prosthodontic procedures on dental mannequins. There are opportunities to participate in elective experiences such as teaching, research and society meetings. The strength of the program is an abundance of patient cases in all aspects of prosthodontics.


Dr. Mijin Choi

Dr. Mijin Choi is a clinical associate professor at the New York University College of Dentistry Department of Prosthodontics. She obtained her DDS degree from the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine. Dr. Choi completed her certificate in Prosthodontics and a MS degree in Oral Biology at the University of Maryland. She then completed sub-specialty training in Maxillofacial Prosthetics at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. She became a diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics in 2004. Her passion for education and patient care led her to devote herself to the Advanced Education Program in Prosthodontics and Advanced Programs for International Dentists in Prosthodontics for International Dentists as director. Amongst other publications, she has co-authored the book, Clinical Cases in Prosthodontics, and has written a chapter titled "Chemotherapy and radiation therapy for head and neck cancer" for the Second Edition of Laney's Diagnosis and Treatment in Prosthodontics. Dr. Choi received Claude R. Baker Faculty Award from American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics in 2010. Her areas of expertise are in oral rehabilitation and in the prosthetic management of managing oral cancer patients.
