Program Structure

The fellowship is full-time, running from Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, divided into 80% clinical time and 20% didactic components, emphasizing hands-on learning and practical application. You will be able to work on patients directly, under the close supervision of a highly experienced and diverse faculty made up of leading practitioners in the field of operative dentistry and related disciplines.

There is a heavy focus on research, requiring students to publish a scholarly article as the lead author. The Implant Dentistry alumni network boasts over 200 scholarly articles in peer-reviewed journals. Students also have the option to participate in professional society meetings, including prestigious organizations like the Academy of Osseointegration (AO), the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI), and more. Participants often receive recognition for their contributions at events like the Alumni Symposium and Research Scholarship Expo.

By completing this program students can apply for Fellowship and Diplomate status in the ICOI, an exclusive opportunity not available through any other implant dentistry program worldwide.

Edentulous Patients: Students work on cases involving completely edentulous patients, providing them with full-arch implant-supported restorations.

Partially Edentulous Patients: Our program covers the restoration of partially edentulous patients using implant-supported and implant-retained prostheses.

Esthetic Cases: Students gain experience in enhancing esthetic outcomes, addressing cases where implants play a pivotal role in smile restoration.

Peri-implantitis Cases: Students learn how to manage peri-implantitis with hard and soft tissue dehiscence with scientific-based treatment strategy including non-surgical and surgical treatments

Complex Reconstructions: We prepare students to handle complex cases, including patients with compromised bone quality and quantity, ensuring they can offer comprehensive solutions.

Fundamental Surgical Techniques: different flap and incision designs, and suturing techniques that apply to multiple surgical procedures.

Implant Placement: Students gain hands-on experience in placing dental implants, including simple implant placement (single and multiple-unit), advanced anterior implant management, “All-on-X”, management of peri-implantitis, and multidisciplinary treatment for complex implant cases. They learn the latest techniques for precise and minimally invasive implant placement.

Bone Augmentation: Our program covers various bone augmentation procedures with different materials and techniques, such as ridge augmentation with resorbable or non-resorbable membrane, ridge split, autogenous block graft, and sinus augmentation, to prepare students for complex cases requiring additional bone support.

Soft Tissue Management: Students become proficient in managing soft tissue around implants not limited to enhancing soft tissue contour for optimal and long-term esthetic outcomes as well as treatment peri-implant soft tissue dehiscence by using autogenous soft tissue graft and other allograft substitutes.

Prosthodontic Restorations: We emphasize prosthetic-driven implant dentistry. Students will master all different kinds of implant restorations for partial and fully edentulous patients, including implant-supported removable and fixed restorations, allowing students to offer comprehensive restorative solutions to their patients.

Implant Biology: Our didactic sessions delve into the biological aspects of osseointegration, soft tissue biology, and implant materials.

Treatment Planning: Students learn to develop comprehensive treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs, considering factors like bone quality, medical history, and patient preferences.

Radiology and Imaging: We cover advanced imaging techniques, including CBCT, to aid in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.

Emerging Technologies: Our program stays at the forefront of the field, introducing students to the latest implant-related technologies and innovations.

Practice Management: In addition to clinical skills, students receive training in practice management, ensuring they are well-prepared for the business side of implant dentistry.

After completing the program, you'll be awarded a certificate of attendance. This certificate is different from the postgraduate program certificate given to full-time international postgraduates in specialty training, which is necessary for recognition by the Commission on Dental Accreditation.

It's important to note that our program is not CODA-accredited. However, in some U.S. states, there may be opportunities for two-year graduates to obtain a license. To get the specific requirements for licensure, please reach out to the dental boards in each state.
