RESEARCH INTERESTS / PROFESSIONAL OVERVIEW

Cheryl M. Westphal Theile is the Assistant Dean for Allied Health Programs. Professor Westphal Theile's research and academic interests focus on culturally competent care and health beliefs. She holds a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and Change from Fielding Graduate University. She was Vice President for Allied Dental Program Directors of ADEA from 2006-2009. As a fellow of the American Dental Education Association Leadership Institute in 2001 Professor Westphal Theile is active in mentoring for the ADEA Allied Dental Directors Leadership conferences. Serving as President of American Dental Hygienists' Association from 1984-1985 Professor Westphal Theile serves in many capacities on advisory boards, journal reviews and committees for ADHA. Professor Westphal Theile is a contributing author and editor for Comprehensive Periodontics for the Dental Hygienist, 4th ed. with Weinberg M, Westphal Theile C, Froum S, and Segelnick S and contributing author of the accompanying student material and powerpoints for the textbook. She is an editor and contributor to Oral Pharmacology for the Dental Hygienist, 2nd ed. with Weinberg M, Westphal Theile C, and Fine, J. Professor Westphal Theile was a member of the North East Regional Board of Dental Examiners and the New Jersey State Board of Dentistry.
