RESEARCH INTERESTS / PROFESSIONAL OVERVIEW
My research projects are focused in three major areas: (1) Development of microfluidic point-of-care diagnostic tests for HIV, TB and Malaria utilizing blood and saliva samples; (2) Role of DMBT1 (aka gp340, SAG) in HIV pathogenesis and designing a novel anti-viral molecule based on the active gp120 binding domain of this glycoprotein; (3) Discovery of plasma and salivary biomarkers for medical conditions including HIV, chronic depression, and pain.
