Diversity Education Opportunities

The Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion hosts educational and professional development opportunities that explore all aspects of identity, the social determinants of health, health equity, and culturally responsive care.

Orientation

This interactive discussion serves as an introduction to the concepts of diversity, equity, and inclusion, including such foundational topic areas as identity development, bias, microaggressions and privilege. Orientation is mandatory for all incoming DDS and Dental Hygiene students.

Diversity in Action

This oral health equity class is designed to explore the basic concepts that contribute to disparities in healthcare settings. Through interactive lectures and small group discussions, students will develop an understanding of the social, economic, systemic, and cultural factors that lead to health inequities. The course will also provide strategies to promote equity and address these disparities from an individual and organizational perspective. This class is mandatory for all post-graduate students.
