Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Task Force
The people who comprise NYU Dentistry appreciate and support the importance of a diverse
environment in which students, faculty, and staff feel included, valued and empowered. We recognize that our diverse population comes with unique experiences and different perspectives, which provide us with a valuable opportunity to deliver the best services to our community. We recognize that our individual social, economic and cultural identities shape and influence our experiences and drive our perspectives. However, it is important to understand that NYU Dentistry will always ensure diversity in our population across the different facets of social, economic and cultural identity as we embrace and practice inclusivity.
The goal of the task force is to ensure that we continue to foster and/or build an environment which values and embraces diversity. We intend to perform a climate assessment of diversity issues within NYU Dentistry. This assessment will include a review of results from the previous University administered culture survey, abbreviated anonymous surveys, and focus groups to obtain a full picture of the College’s strengths and weaknesses concerning diversity, equity and inclusion. Upon completion of such assessments, we will provide recommendations to the Dean.
NYU Dentistry CLIMATE SURVEY
The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Task Force is pleased to share the results of the climate survey it conducted. The survey has given us a more accurate picture of how the community feels about being at NYU Dentistry. Linked below are a Summary document that includes key recommendations to be considered for implementation; and (2) a PowerPoint presentation displaying climate survey responses in detail. We thank all the members of the NYU Dentistry community who participated in this important activity.
