Dr. Dalal Alhajji Receives ADA 10 Under 10 Award
Dalal Alhajji, DMD, MSD, a clinical instructor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology, Radiology and Medicine at NYU College of Dentistry, has been named a recipient of the American Dental Association’s 10 Under 10 Award, which recognizes 10 new dentists who demonstrate excellence early in their careers.
Dr. Alhajji is recognized for her work in dental oncology and advocating for how personalized dental care contributes to the overall health of patients with cancer. Before joining NYU Dentistry in 2019, Dr. Alhajji completed a fellowship in Dental Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, making her one of few practicing dentists in the United States working in this area.
At NYU Dentistry, Dr. Alhajji supervises students across three clinics: the Patient Admissions Clinic, Oral Medicine Clinic, and Oral Health Center for People with Disabilities. She offers instruction and mentorship to students over a wide scope of dentistry procedures for individuals with physical, cognitive, and developmental disabilities, as well as patients with cancer who may experience unique oral health challenges as a result of their cancer or treatment.
Developed by the ADA New Dentist Committee in 2017, the award recognizes dentists who graduated from a dental school accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation less than 10 years ago. Dr. Alhajji was selected for the award by the ADA New Dentist Committee from nearly 70 nominations. The recipients of the 10 Under 10 Awards will receive a $1,000 prize and are recognized in various ADA publications and channels.
