Dr. Maurice J. Oringer, Class of 1928, on being included in the first edition of Who’s Who in Medicine and Health Care.

’40s

Dr. David Copell, Class of 1947, on having his photographs appear on the cover of The Jewish Veteran for its spring 2000 issue commemorating the Korean War. Many of Dr. Copell’s photographs were also exhibited on the mall in Washington, D.C., by the National Museum of American Jewish Military History on the day of the dedication of the Korean War Memorial.

Dr. Abram W. Zasloff, Class of 1948, on being listed in the Guide to America’s Top Dentists, published by the Consumers’ Research Council of America.

Dr. Seymour Evans, Class of 1953, on receiving the NYU Alumni Meritorious Service Award.

Dr. Mark H. Friedman, Class of 1956, on being the principal investigator for a Westchester Medical Center Emergency Department acute headache study. The study was published in Headache Quarterly as “An Alternative Approach to Acute Headache Treatment: An Emergency Department Pilot Study.” Added congratulations to Dr. Friedman on authoring “The Craniocervical Connection: A Retrospective Analysis of 300 Whiplash Patients with Cervical and Temporomandibular Disorders” for the Journal of Craniofacial Practice.

Dr. Sheldon Winkler, Class of 1956, on being named senior editor of the Journal of Oral Implantology.

Dr. Vincent V. LaBruna, Class of 1958, on being elected a governor of the board of the Dental Association of the State of New York and a delegate to the American Dental Association.

Dr. Barry Elbaum, Class of 1962, on receiving the 2000 Pinnacle Award presented by the Monmouth Medical Center. The award recognizes outstanding professional leadership and achievements.

Dr. Peter M. Di Fiore, Class of 1966, on his appointment as director of postgraduate endodontics at the UMDNJ New Jersey Dental School.

’70s

Dr. G. Kirk Gleason, Class of 1970, on his election as secretary-treasurer of the Dental Association of the State of New York.

Dr. Ira M. Klemons, Class of 1972, on presenting a lecture on “Successful Treatment of Headaches and Facial Pain: 2000” at the Neurological Association of New Jersey and a lecture on “Managing Headache Pain” at the JFK Medical Center in Edison, New Jersey.

Dr. Richard D. Riva, Class of 1975, on his election as president of the New Jersey Dental Association.

Dr. Aida A. Chohayeb, Class of 1978, on coauthoring “Microleakage Comparison of Different Restorative Materials” for the Journal of Dental Research. (The article was also published in the Cairo Dental Journal.) Dr. Chohayeb also was recently appointed a visiting professor in the Department of Public Health of the College of Dentistry at Alexandria University in Egypt and a consultant for the World Health Organization of the Eastern Mediterranean Region.

Dr. Louis I. Siegelman, Class of 1981, on coauthoring “The New Era of Precordial/Pretracheal Stethoscopes” for the Journal of the American Association of Pediatric Dentistry.

Dr. David C. Reff, Class of 1983, on being appointed chairman of the new dental hygiene program at Middle Georgia State Technical College in Warner Robins, Georgia.

Dr. David J. Shuch, Class of 1983, on presenting a lecture entitled “An Introduction to Bioenergetic Dentistry” at the New York Academy of Oral Rehabilitation.

Dr. Graziano D. Giglio, Class of 1987, on his election as president of the American College of Prosthodontics—New York Section.

Dr. Juan-Carlos Lopez-Alvarez, Class of 1995, on presenting a lecture entitled “Bone and Soft Tissue Enhancement with Orthodontics” at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Periodontology.

Dr. Andrew M. Sicklick, Class of 1999, on publishing an article entitled “Edward Hartley Angle—In Pursuit of Perfection" in the Journal of the History of Dentistry.
