Third Annual Kaufman Award Goes to Sam Levine, ’02
Sam Levine, Class of 2002, received the third annual Dr. Edward G. Kaufman Award for Academic Excellence last spring at a dinner sponsored in part by the Procter & Gamble Co. through its Division of Professional and Scientific Relations, Oral Care Products.
The Kaufman Award is presented annually to the student who has attained the highest grade point average during his or her freshman year.
“For as long as I can remember I have wanted to be a dentist,” says Sam. “After marching in a Memorial Day parade in junior high school, I spotted a house in the neighboring town reading ‘S. W. Levine, D.D.S.’ When my attempts to liberate the sign by illicit means failed, I realized that I would have to graduate from dental school before I could claim the title as my own.”
