A Winning Research Day

Happiness was a winning Research Day presentation for dental students and their faculty advisers who participated in NYU Dentistry’s annual Research Day program in April. David Wu, ’02, won both the ADA Dentsply Student Research Award and the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Omega Chapter Award for Outstanding Poster in Basic Science. David’s advisers for the OKU Award were Dr. Kathleen Walsh Kinnally, professor of basic science and craniofacial biology, who also won the Outstanding Poster by a Faculty Member Award, and Dr. Peter Sacks, an associate professor of basic science and craniofacial biology. The Outstanding Poster in Clinical Science Award went to Onir Leshem, ’01, whose advisers were Dr. Stephanie Russell, assistant professor of epidemiology and health promotion, and Dr. Robert Boylan, associate professor of basic science and craniofacial biology. Three third-year students in the Advanced Education Program in Endodontics, Roy Hayashi, Dana Ann Lombardo, and Brian Joseph Licari, shared the Dean’s Research Award for Outstanding Postgraduate Poster. Their advisers were Dr. Jane McCutcheon, assistant professor of basic science and craniofacial biology, and Dr. Paul A. Rosenberg, professor and chairman of the Dr. I.N. and Sally Quartararo Department of Endodontics, director of the Advanced Education Program in Endodontics, and associate dean for postgraduate programs.
