Metodo facile per formare qualunque sia sorta di vernici della Cina, e del Giappone, praticato in Francia, ed in Inghilterra (Easy method of creating Chinese and Japanese varnish, practiced in France and England). Giacomo Marsoner, Rimini, 1784.

Guidoitti was from Bologna. He developed a method to create varnish from Copal Gum, a resin originally from East Africa. Its uses were to cover porcelain/china with varnish and provide an esthetic appearance. His method was subsequently adopted in preparation of a luster on the surface of mineral paste and later porcelain teeth. Guidotti published his book first in 1764 on a novel method of preparation of the varnish (Nuevo trattato di qualsivoglia forte di vernici communemente dette delle china). The 182-page book in our collection is a refinement on that subject. It was published the same year Guidotti died, 1784.
