Admissions & Application Process


All applicants must be graduates of U.S. or Canadian dental schools accredited by the American or Canadian Dental Association. The applicants to NYU Dentistry Advanced Education Program in Endodontics must apply through the Postdoctoral Application Support System (PASS). To apply please visit the American Dental Education Association (ADEA) and follow all PASS application deadlines and guidelines.

Application Deadline and Process

Applicants are accepted into the program on a rolling admission basis after August 1.

Please send the following documents to PASS:

  • Three (3) letters of recommendation, including the Dean's Letter
  • National Board Dental Examination (NBDE) is not required
  • Official dental school transcript
  • National Board Dental Examination (NBDE), Parts I and II must be reported directly to PASS from the ADA.
  • A one-year general practice residency, experience in practice, and/or research is highly recommended.
  • The Advanced Dental Admission Test (ADAT) exam is required.
    *Due to COVID-19 testing site restrictions, our program is not requiring submission of ADAT score results for applications submitted in the 2021-2022 cycle. However, applicants are welcome to submit their scores if they have already taken the exam.

Payment Guidelines for Canadian and Non-US Applicants

The non-refundable $100 application processing fee must be in U.S. dollars and may be paid by either money order or a check. If paying by check, please note that the check must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Checks must have a pre-printed denotation stating the check is being drawn from U.S. Funds. Please keep in mind that this means that U.S. funds cannot be handwritten by the account holder. 
  • The check must have a 9-digit U.S. routing number, usually located at the bottom of the check. 
  • The bank from which you are drafting the check must have an affiliated branch located in the United States.
  • The affiliated U.S. bank address must be pre-printed on the check.

International applicants

Please send the following documents to NYU Dentistry

  • Email a 2" x 2" photo in a .jpg or .jpeg format to Mara Zelaya
  • $100 (USD) non-refundable supplemental application fee:
    • For online payments, please visit our Application Fee Payment page. You will need your PASS ID number in order to process this payment.

      Please Note:

      The $100 (USD) non-refundable supplemental application fee is separate from PASS service fees
  • Three (3) letters of recommendation, including the Dean's Letter
  • National Board Dental Examination (NBDE) is not required.
  • An official ECE course-by-course evaluation must be sent directly to PASS by ECE.
  • All international applicants are required to take the TOEFL exam to be considered for admission.
    • All applicants must be proficient in the English language and are required to take the TOEFL (iBT) exam. The TOEFL exam will not be waived.
    • The minimum required score is of 100; no exceptions will be made. Applications will not be reviewed if they do not meet the minimum score required.
    • TOEFL exam scores are valid for only two years and must not expire before the program start date.
    • We will not accept the "My Best Scores" result.
    • The original TOEFL score report must be sent directly from ETS to NYU Dentistry upon admission to the program.
    • We will be accepting the new TOEFL iBT® Special Home Edition. 
  • The Advanced Dental Admission Test (ADAT) exam is required.

*During the admissions process, please do not submit any official documents or score reports to NYU Dentistry; they will be requested upon admission to the program.
