CE Course: Leadership 101 for Oral Health Professionals
What is leadership and do we all need to have it? Is it a learned ability or given talent? Can we just be followers and be comfortable in our settings without all being leaders? Come explore these questions as they directly relate to your work, home, or personal life. Apply these concepts to self-awareness, self- improvement and the advancement of your organization, with YOU included. Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to:
- Define leadership and related terms
- Assess ways leadership intertwines in communication, cultural sensitivity, and diversity
- Apply new terms to personal growth
- Apply concepts to organizational growth for all participants

- Consists of a 2 hour live Zoom class session, incorporating activities and discussion.

This course will be taught by Dr. Cheryl Theile, NYU College of Dentistry.
Cheryl M. Theile, EdD, RDH, is Clinical Professor Emerita and Adjunct Professor at New York University College of Dentistry. Dr. Theile was Associate Dean for Allied Dental Programs and Director of Dental Hygiene until September 2019. Currently Dr. Theile teaches research methods and is a reviewer for peer-reviewed journals. Her published dissertation is on program evaluation for cultural competence, and she has taught numerous sections of the course on cultural competence for the Department of Dental Hygiene and Dental Assisting. Dr. Theile is editor with Weinberg and Segelnick for Clinical Cases in Dental Hygiene, and contributing author and editor for textbooks in periodontology and pharmacology. Dr. Theile presents and publishes nationally and internationally on research, cultural competence, advancing dental hygiene education and practice, and leadership. She promotes the role for the dental hygienist as the oral healthcare manager, coordinating oral care with other professionals for patient-centered care. Dr.Theile supports advanced education and skills for practice in numerous interprofessional settings.
