Esthetic Dentistry

The Advanced Program for International Dentists in Esthetic Dentistry is a full-time, one-year clinical and didactic course of study, offered to dentists of all countries, including the United States, who seek to improve their clinical skills and knowledge in the field of esthetic dentistry. Emphasis is placed on the clinical component with a focus on a broad spectrum of modern esthetic treatment methods.

Admission

Priority is given to applicants with at least one year of clinical experience. Applicants with less experience are still encouraged to apply.

Upon completion of the Advanced Program for International Dentists in Esthetic Dentistry, participants will understand the complexities involved in esthetic diagnosis and exit the program with clinical competence in formulating and executing treatment plans for patients desiring esthetic improvement. Participants will have the ability to successfully complete a digital and analog smile analysis and recommend and execute treatment plans which include but are not limited to porcelain laminates, direct and indirect composite restorations, implant restorations in the esthetic zone, bleaching techniques, crown and bridge prostheses, and partial coverage porcelain restorations.

Faculty

Participants treat a variety of patients under the close guidance of a diverse and experienced faculty comprised of top practitioners in the field of esthetic dentistry and related fields.

Course Components

The participant's knowledge and skills in esthetic dentistry is developed through lectures, seminars, case presentations, research and clinical experiences. A great portion of the program is dedicated to hands-on experiences in the clinic. Participants will address the esthetic needs of patients in a comprehensive care environment. They will learn interpersonal relationship skills to maximize their successful interactions with patients, peers and other health care professionals. Participants are expected to be actively involved in research and to submit abstracts to the annual NYU Dentistry Research Scholarship Expo.
