Admissions & Application Process

Eligibility- U.S. and Canadian Applicants

All applicants must be graduates of U.S. or Canadian dental schools accredited by the American or Canadian Dental Association. The applicants to NYU Dentistry Advanced Education Program in Endodontics must apply through the Postdoctoral Application Support System (PASS). To apply please visit the American Dental Education Association (ADEA) and follow all PASS application deadlines and guidelines.

Application Deadline and Process

The application deadline is July 15th. Applicants are accepted into the program on a rolling admission basis after July 1st of each year.

Please send the following documents to PASS:

  • Three (3) letters of recommendation, including the Dean's Evaluation.
  • Official dental school transcript.
  • National Board Dental Examination Parts I and II (NBDE), or the Integrated Board Dental Examination (INBDE) scores must be reported on the Dean’s Evaluation, or reported directly to PASS from the ADA.
  • Must pass Part I to be considered for review and pass Part II before joining the program.
  • Advanced Dental Admission Test (ADAT) exam is required.
  • A personal essay.
  • A one-year general practice residency, experience in practice, and/or research is highly recommended.

Please send the following to NYU Dentistry:

  • A non-refundable supplemental application-processing fee of $100.00 (USD) is required to complete your application. Once the application is received from ADEA PASS, you will receive an email with instructions to submit the application fee.

    You can also mail your non-refundable supplemental application-processing fee in the form of a personal check, money order or bank draft. Make the check payable to "NYU College of Dentistry" and mail to the following address:

Please Note: The $100 (USD) non-refundable supplemental application-processing fee is separate from PASS service fees.

Payment Guidelines for Canadian and Non-US Applicants

The $100 (USD) non-refundable application-processing fee must be in U.S. dollars and may be paid by either money order or a check. If paying by check, please note that the check must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Checks must have a pre-printed denotation stating the check is being drawn from U.S. funds.
    Please keep in mind that this means that U.S. funds cannot be handwritten by the account holder.
  • The check must have a 9-digit U.S. routing number, usually located at the bottom of the check.
  • The bank from which you are drafting the check must have an affiliated branch located in the U.S.
  • The affiliated U.S. bank address must be pre-printed on the check.

International Applicants

  • The following are in addition to the instructions stated above.
  • Three (3) letters of recommendation, including the Dean's Evaluation.
  • An official ECE course-by-course evaluation must be reported directly to PASS. We do not accept evaluations from WES or any other evaluating institutions.
  • All international applicants are required to take the TOEFL iBT exam to be considered for admission. The minimum required score is 100. No exceptions will be made. Scores must be reported directly to PASS from ETS. IELTS or any other English exam are not accepted. The TOEFL exam will not be waived and we do not accept the "My Best Scores" result and the new TOEFL Essential. The TOEFL exam is valid for two years only and must not expire before the application deadline or before the program start date (July 1st).
  • ADAT exam is required.
  • INDBDE or the NBDE Parts I and II are not required.

*During the admission process, please do not submit any official documents or score reports to NYU Dentistry, they will be requested upon admission to the program.

Background Check

Prior to matriculation, all students admitted to NYU Dentistry must complete a criminal background check, the results of which must be satisfactory. Learn more about the process from ADEA PASS
