Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene: Concentration in Dental Science
The Bachelor of Science (BS) in Dental Hygiene with a concentration in Dental Science at NYU Dentistry will provide a pathway for those looking to gain a solid foundation for dental school and other health-related professions, such as medicine, pharmacy, health sciences, and/or research. This new degree concentration will follow a rigorous curriculum (PDF) that includes science, math and liberal arts courses that are required for health-related professions, while preparing students for the practice of dental hygiene.
Working alongside other oral health professionals while in this program, students gain insight and experience that can inform their post-baccalaureate professional goals. Students graduate with practical skills and can become a "practice-ready" dental hygienist. A Bachelor of Science degree expands employment opportunities beyond private practice, including teaching, research, public health, and the corporate sector.
