Admission Requirements
All items listed are mandatory.
Admission
Applicants must possess a minimum of a BA or a BS degree and/or a professional degree in dentistry, medicine, nursing, pharmacy, or other relevant professional field. Applicants must submit the following items as part of the admission process:
- A completed online application, with the following supporting documents:
- Academic transcripts
- Personal statement
- Resume or curriculum vitae
- Three letters of recommendation
- Official GRE test scores
- For all applicants whose native language is NOT English and who received the equivalent of a U.S. 4-year undergraduate degree from a non-U.S. institution, the TOEFL exam is mandatory.
- Please note: NYU College of Dentistry does not accept scores from other equivalent exams, including IELTS.

- Application fee of $100 (*See below for Application Fee Waiver Policy)
If you have taken other standardized tests, such as the DAT, CDAT, National Dental Board Part I (NDBE I) and National Dental Board Part II (NDBE II), you may scan and upload the score reports to your online application.
Please allow sufficient time (2-3 weeks), and schedule your test dates accordingly. If you took the NDBE I or the NDBE II, please enter the scores as one hundred (100) for Pass and zero (0) for Fail.
Please note that applications that are incomplete will not be reviewed. All supporting materials, including transcripts and applicable test scores, etc. need to be submitted by the application deadline.
Application Fee Waiver Policy
NYU College of Dentistry is committed to recruiting a diverse student body. Fee waivers for the NYU College of Dentistry application fee are granted based on one of the following criteria:
- Financial hardship
- U.S. military members / U.S. veterans
- Teach for America alumni
To request an application fee waiver, please submit a request in writing to dental.admissions@nyu.edu prior to submitting your application.
The request should include your full name, program and degree to which you are applying for and the following documents:
- Copy of your Student Aid Report, (SAR) for financial hardship, or
- Documentation of service if you meet the other criteria
If you have been out of school, and do not have a SAR, you may send a copy of your most recent tax return, form 1040. Please include all pages of the tax form.
We will notify you via email once your request for an application fee waiver has been approved.
