Research Interests / Professional Overview

Dr. Partridge’s research focuses on parathyroid hormone (PTH) regulation of gene expression by the osteoblast. In one project, her laboratory is investigating how PTH, acting through protein kinase A (PKA) signals to the nucleus of osteoblasts to regulate transcription of a gene, receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa B ligand (RANKL), which is involved in activation of osteoclasts and thus, stimulates bone breakdown. In a second project, Dr. Partridge’s laboratory is examining how PKA regulates bone development, mass, and gene expression and its requirement for the anabolic effects of PTH and the new osteoanabolic, abaloparatide. All of this latter project is in vivo in mice.
