The culture committee consists of 8 members of the department that are responsible for encouraging collegiality, coherence, and integration across every member of the department with a mission to organize fun, social events.

Spring Holiday Celebration

The department gathered together to celebrate a combination of the holidays of Passover, Easter, Eid and any other springtime holidays one might celebrate!

New Year’s 2025

A special Tea Time to celebrate the new year was held in early January, featuring New Year’s traditions from around the world!

Gingerbread House Competition

From holiday houses to collapsed creations, our department engaged in a thrilling, hour-long competition to see who could build the best (and most durable) 'gingerbread' house.

Friendsgiving 2024

Turkey took center stage again as the department came together for the annual MPB Friendsgiving potluck!

Halloween Pumpkin Decorating Competition

The department celebrated the spooky season with a fun pumpkin decorating tea time. The department's creativity was put to the pumpkin test but only one pumpkin reigned supreme.

Oktoberfest 2024

The Culture Committee hosted our first ever Oktoberfest with a wide selection of German beer and pretzels. The most popular beer in the department was the Josephsbrau Oktoberfest.

Welcome Back BBQ 2024

To kick off the academic year, the culture committee held a welcome back BBQ in the 433 1st avenue courtyard. This event (featuring many staple backyard BBQ fixings) was an opportunity to enjoy the late summer weather and start the year off right!

Sports Day 2024

Our 2nd annual MPB Sports Day pickleball tournament brought together four highly competitive teams and was a great success. We look forward to seeing everyone at the next MPB Fall Sports Day in 2025!
