Research Cores

The Pain Research Center sits within the NYU College of Dentistry at New York University. The PRC thus has access to the Core facilities from the College of Dentistry but also within NYU Langone Medical Center. This widespread access gives the investigators within the PRC comprehensive access to the core resources needed for clinical, translational and basic science research.

Clinical and Translational Research at the NYU Pain Research Center takes place at the NYU Dentistry Translational Research Center

NYU Dentistry Translational Research Center

The NYU Dentistry Translational Research Center has the facilities and resources to optimize scientifically rigorous clinical research for individual investigators, industry, academic institutions, governmental agencies, and foundations.

The Center is an 8,500 square-foot facility designed to support phase I through phase IV dental and medical clinical trials. The studies conducted here include biomedical research on pharmaceuticals, devices, health products, and emerging biotechnologies. The NYU Dentistry Translational Research Center is structured to optimize scientifically rigorous clinical research for individual investigators, industry, academic institutions, governmental agencies, and foundations. All of our clinical trials meet the standards of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and follow ethical guidelines. As a full-service clinical research facility, the Translational Research Center has the clinical and lab facilities to accommodate a vast array of medical and dental clinical trials including clinical research suites, medical examination rooms, surgical operating spaces, secured, and a temperature-controlled and monitored storage room for record storage. The Center also houses one biological and one general-purpose laboratory in which a broad variety of biosamples can be processed, stored, and shipped or analyzed, depending on study requirements. We also maintain a sample database; each sample is coded, tracked, and monitored for proper storage. An extensive array of Translational Research Center-specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as well as training and auditing processes are regularly reviewed and updated for investigators and staff. Translational Research Center personnel have expertise in all aspects of clinical research, including GCP guidelines, HIPAA regulations, federal regulations, and NIH standards. Calibration, validation, and periodic reassessments for quality control are part of each study.

Administrative support for clinical research studies is also available for IRB Submission, budgeting & contract agreements, compliance & quality Assurance, clinical core services, clinical research coordination, subject recruitment, nursing, and biosample acquisition and processing.
