Direct expenses are institutional charges billed to you by New York University via the Office of the Bursar. For example, tuition, mandatory fees, and the Dental Instrument Fee. Health insurance will also appear on your bill if you enroll in an NYU-Sponsored plan.

Indirect expenses are estimates of costs that may be associated with your attendance but are not typically University charges. Examples include off campus housing, food, transportation, and personal expenses.

¹ This amount reflects the mandatory dental instrument fee for all students. There may be additional course-specific fees that will appear on your bill based on your enrollment each term that are not included in this estimated cost of attendance.

² This amount reflects estimated housing expenses for the academic year assuming you are living off campus. Individual costs for off-campus living will vary depending upon location, number of roommates, amenities, etc.

³ This amount is an estimated cost for health insurance based on NYU-sponsored student health plans from 2023-24. If you choose to enroll in an NYU-sponsored student health plan, your actual billed charges will reflect the rates for 2024-25.
